Gays being vilified and described as crazy or evil by straights throughout history is nothing new. And, of course, for most of us, they’d be wrong. Most of us. Seeing as a lot of the Northern Hemisphere is going through a chilly and deep winter at the moment, we here at Dandy Dicks thought we’d provide you with an even chillier list. So here are our top five psychotic gays in history. Be forewarned, the photos and details may make Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs seem tame by comparison – and unlike that fictional character, no one made this shit up.

#1. John Wayne Gacy, an infamous serial killer with the nickname “Killer Clown” due to his charity work while dressed as… yup, a clown.

Gacy’s criminal career began in the 1960s, but it was in the 1970s that Gacy began cruising for young men, chloroforming them, and brutally raping them back at his home before asphyxiating them and hiding their bodies in the crawl space under the house. The photo above depicts many of his victims. Ultimately, a civil suit was filed against him for a youth’s disappearance, and snapping under pressure, he admitted to murdering the missing boy and many others.

Gacy was convicted of 33 murders and was sentenced to death. And although  the Killer Clown died in 1994, his horror lives on in movies and documentaries.

#2. Gilles de Rais, a legendary French knight during the Hundred Years’ War. Known first for his battlefield bravery and successful war campaigns, he was ultimately found out to be a savage killer of young boys.

Gilles is still celebrated in songs about the Hundred Years’ War, mostly because from 1427 to 1435 he was the battle companion and loyal friend of Joan of Arc.

Yes, that Joan of Arc. After her execution, Gilles helped lead France’s armies to victory against the English and became a national hero. However, he was later accused by the clergy of participating in black magic due to his interest in alchemy and the occult. The Church claimed he summoned demons to do his bidding in exchange for the body parts of young children.

Gilles eventually confessed to the kidnapping, sexual abuse and murder of a great number of young boys. His servants confirmed his guilt by testifying to being accomplices in his sexual murders. He was sentenced to death by hanging.

#3. Aileen Wuornos, a lesbian prostitute who killed seven men in Florida.

Down on her luck, Wuornos met a hotel maid at a Daytona gay bar, and the two developed a sexual relationship. They moved in together and then the murders began.

According to Wuornos, all seven killings were done in self-defense, claiming the men tried to rape her. After the police found her in possession of one of the victim’s missing cars, they put pressure on her lesbian lover to rat on her in exchange for immunity, which she did.

Ultimately, Aileen was convicted of six murders and sentenced to death. The subject of her life became an Academy Award-winning movie, garnering Charlize Theron the Oscar for best actress.

#4: Luka Magnotta: a gay porn star and model who dismembered a student, ate and had sex with his corpse, filmed it all in a notorious snuff video and mailed the remaining body parts to elementary schools and politicians.

Prior to killing the exchange student pictured above, Luka was on many people’s shit-list for uploading videos wherein he murders kittens by placing them in a bag and sucking the air out with a vacuum until they suffocated.

Things escalated when Luka followed-up his kitten murder video with a human murder video which captured him stabbing a Chinese student in his bed with an icepick, sawing off his limbs, using a fork and knife to eat portions of the cadaver’s ass, and then having anal sex with the mutilated torso.

Luka loved the notoriety but had to flee his native Canada. Interpol agents tracked him down in Berlin, upon which he was extradited back to Québec and plead guilty on trial. He is now serving a life sentence in his home country.

#5: Jeffrey Dahmer, the most notorious gay killer of men during the 1970s, 80s and 90s.

Dahmer committed his first murder when he was 18 – a young hitchhiker. He masturbated over the corpse and successfully hid the body. As an adult, he cruised bathhouses and drugged men to have sex with their unconscious bodies. He then drilled into drugged men’s brains and injected chemicals, attempting to create mindless zombies he could have sex whenever he wanted. This of course resulted in their deaths and Dahmer having sex with their corpses anyway. He kept severed body parts as mementos.

He became more experimental and would photograph the corpses in sexual positions, disembowel them and eat them.

Finally, one victim managed to escape and alerted the police. They found the photos of his victims, trophies he made of them and other evidence. He confessed to everything and admitted that his success was largely due to his good looks which made it easier to for him to lure in men. He was convicted, and sent to prison where he was beaten to death by a fellow inmate who claimed God told him to do it. The shocking nature of his crimes are now forever memorialized in multiple documentaries, films and books about this handsome psychopath.
